I love to discover new places to eat in the city I grew up in, especially if they serve coffee. As a coffee lover like me, I am looking for a perfect place that I can enjoy my cup of goodness in a quiet place with good interiors. Then to my surprise, I found the Coffee Grounds by Golden Lion.

Coffee Grounds is located at Roxas Ave. Extension, Davao City and they serve good food and coffee plus they have cool interiors. It's like you're in a shop in England because of their brown brick walls and London-themed paintings. Everything looks really "Instagram-able"! LOL

Here are some of the food they served during the food tasting last April 28.

ICED/COLD DRINKS

WHITE RABBIT P120  - Yes. It tastes like vanilla cupcake. I heard from the staff that it tastes like one of their cakes of the same name.
COOKIES AND CREAM FRAPPE P140
APPETIZERS

BRUSCHETTA (new on the menu, no price yet) - I like this! Slightly toasted bread with tomatoes, onion, basil, and cheese.
NACHOS P210 - Yummy! :)
MAIN COURSE
ROASTED CHICKEN IN LEMON GRASS P250 - A large cut of tender roasted chicken with gravy.
OSSO BUCO P290 - Soft beef (veal-shank) braised with broth, wine, and vegetables.
BABY BACK RIBS P320 - Tender baby back ribs with corn. My favorite! :)
PIZZA
TRIO FORMAGGIO PANCETTA P320 - It's cheesy and salty. Just the pizza I like. :)
TOMATO AND ARTICHOKE P315 - I don't understand the taste but it's salty because of the cheese and it has tomatoes.
PEPPERONI AND BASIL P280 - I like this too. Wish it had more pepperoni.
DESSERTS

They served this tea set with different sweets, cakes, and mini sandwiches. Macarons!!! :p

They also have a second floor for studying or reading books. They have these cool black chairs and couches. I even love their tiles on the terrace.

Most of the customers here are students because they are located near the school like Ateneo de Davao University and Holy Child College. The environment is still calm and quiet compared to other rowdy coffee shops in the city.

My 3 favorite dishes are the Trio Formaggio Pancetta Pizza, Baby Back Ribs, and the Roasted Chicken in Lemon Grass. I only tried their yummy cold drinks, so I have to go back and will give you an update on their hot coffee drinks. Will blog about it along with their newly launched product that will be a hit in the city.

Escape the scorching heat of summer with Starbucks' newest Frappuccino Blended Beverages - the Roasted Marshmallow S'mores Frappuccino and the returning favorite, the Summer Berry Panna Cotta Frappuccino. Starting today, April 19 up to June 6, you will get to enjoy the rich summer flavors guaranteed to leave you feeling rejuvenated.

ROASTED MARSHMALLOW S'MORES FRAPPUCCINO BLENDED BEVERAGE
P180 / P190 / P200

S’mores are a classic treat of the American summer, evoking happy memories of campfires and the outdoors. The distinct taste of roasted marshmallows sandwiched with chocolate between graham crackers is the inspiration for the S’mores Mocha Frappuccino® Blended Beverage.
SUMMER BERRY PANNA COTTA FRAPPUCCINO BLENDED BEVERAGE
P180 / P190 / P200
Celebrating the sweetness of summer, Starbucks is also bringing back a favorite. The Summer Berry Panna Cotta combines Panna Cotta with different types of berries to create a beautifully layered Frappuccino® Blended Beverage and topped with whipped cream and a tart berry drizzle.

After enjoying these summer beverages, you can join the Starbucks Frappuccino® & Friends Photo Contest by uploading your photos to the Starbucks Philippines Frappuccino® website (http://www.starbucksfrappuccino.ph) from April 19 to 30, 2016 for a chance to win a pre-loaded Starbucks Frappuccino® Card.

Starbucks will also keep you energized with their perfectly brewed hot and cold coffee.
STARBUCKS RESERVE BURUNDI MURAMBI P595
This coffee was processed using double fermentation, which is a two part step. The first fermentation is wet and the second fermentation is dry. It yields greater flavors and depth in the cup. Complementary Flavors: Lemon, baking spices, butter pastries.
STARBUCKS RESERVE EL SALVADOR MONTECARLOS ESTATE P495
The Montecarlos Estate sits atop a volcano where the coffee plants grow all the way around the volcano allowing the estate to fully utilize all the well-draining soil types the location has to offer. With piney herbal aromas that greet you in the cup, and flavors reminiscent of red apple and cane sugar. Complementary Flavors: Baked fruit tarts & pies, herbal breads, sweet & savory foods.
KATI KATI BLEND P425
Kati Kati, Swahili for “between”, is made from beans from East Africa which produce extraordinary summer coffees. Kenyan beans bring body and distinctive citrus flavors, while beans from Ethiopia soften the blend and add more complexity in flavor and aroma.  Available in select stores only. Complementary Flavors: Citrus and fresh fruits; lemons, oranges, and strawberries.
STARBUCKS VIA SWEETENED ICED COFFEE P250
Lightly sweetened with cane sugar and specially designed for mixing with cold water, this coffee just needs ice to hit the spot. Complementary Flavors: Nuts, lemons, oranges.

To further provide a cool little haven from the scorching heat, Starbucks Philippines will also have a series of Meet Me at Starbucks for a Summer Frappuccino® Party from April 26 to May 31 where you can enjoy live summer music, a One For You, One To Share (Buy One, Get One) promo on the Roasted Marshmallow S ‘mores Frappuccino® blended beverage, 10% off on summer mugs and tumblers and other exciting treats.

Everyone deserves some relaxation after a busy day at work. It doesn't mean you need to go out of the city or go to the beach. A sip of coffee and a comfortable couch is all you need. Plus some friends to chit chat with. I found a perfect place that serves good food and has a relaxed and comfortable environment. I'm talking about Koffiepauze - a coffee shop we found along Roxas Avenue.

Koffiepauze is a dutch word that simply means "coffee break". The Tinio family had an idea of putting up a one-stop coffee shop that has a flower boutique, a souvenir and stationery stand with complete postal service. However, from those concepts and ideas, only the former was realized. They opened last May 8, 2014 at the Palmetto Condo in Ma-a and transferred late last year at Roxas Avenue.

The managers Ms. Donna Patricia Tinio and Mrs. Melody Liz Espinosa, invited us to their new and bigger home at 100 Roxas Ave. Dormitory. We had the chance to taste some of their dishes and hot and cold drinks.

SALADS

KHANI SALAD P 150 - The plate is so full! Good for 2 people sharing. But for me, I can eat this by myself. LOL
ALL-DAY RICE MEALS

SWEET AND SOUR FISH P150
CORDON BLEU P160 - Cheesy and tender
BREADED PORK CHOP P160 - Your all time favorite pork chop with a unique gravy
CARBONARA P155
LASAGNA P155 - Yummy and cheesy, I like it!
HOT AND COLD DRINKS

JO'S KOFFIE P110 (Hot) P115 (Cold) - Their specialty served in a large Koffiepauze mug. For hot coffee lovers, this will complete your day. :)
KIWI SODA P95 - Sparkling and refreshing
GREEN APPLE AND TEA COOLERS P85
ALOHA LATTE KOFFIE BLENDED FRAPPE P135 - Sweet!
CHOCO CUPCAKE NON-KOFFIE FRAPPE P135 - It looks like Aloha Latte and somehow tastes like it too. I can't tell the difference. :)
CAKES AND DESSERTS

FIRST FLOOR

A good place to hang out on the 2nd floor. Wish they have more soft foam or pillows
Leave notes on this wall. It's cute!
They also have 2 small rooms that can accommodate 10-20 people. Good for private meetings or group studies.

My top three favorites are Khani Salad, Chicken Cordon Bleu, and their signature drink Jo's Koffie. So far, I love their food and drinks. Sometimes, the drinks are too sweet so when you order, tell the barista to adjust the sweetness. But the best thing about Koffiepauze is that you'd really feel and enjoy the luxury of your coffee break.
