Pilipinas 2023 Salomon Xtrail Run in Samal Island

After successfully organizing community runs in Luzon and Visayas, the Salomon Xtrail event has returned to Mindanao as part of the Summer Saya sa Isla 2023 festivities. The race took place on Samal Island last May 7, 2023, attracting a total of 471 participants out of the 525 registered individuals. The event featured two categories: a 15km race that began at 5:30 am and a 30km race that started at 1:15 am. Despite the rain, participants found the trails more thrilling and challenging, creating a unique and unforgettable experience.

The Salomon Xtrail on Samal Island introduced new trails exclusively built for the event, expanding the variety of terrain available for trail runners. These new trails will now be accessible to all who wish to enjoy the natural beauty and demanding landscapes of Samal Island.

The winners of the 30km category were Maria Josephine Liao, Arian Jane Aloy, and Lizy Ayn Misa for the Women's category, and Jong Mahinay, Romnick Tongkaling, and Roberto Cain for the Men's category. In the 15km category, Mariel Cantila, Razzil, and Vanessa Manlosa Quiñanola emerged as winners in the Women's category, while Marjones Abugan, Paul James Zafico, and Antonio Baguio took the top three spots in the Men's category. The awards were presented by DOT XI, represented by RD Tanya Rabat-Tan.

Aside from the race, participants and supporters enjoyed interactive games such as Beer Mile, Bring Me, and Longest Leg Raise. The success of the event was made possible by the support of various partners and sponsors, including the Department of Tourism XI, Samal LGU, Primer Group of Companies, ROX, Nalgene, Sea to Summit, Gatorade, Mountain Dew, Pepsi, San Miguel Beer, Nature Spring, Unilab, Beach Hut, Blackwater, Anytime Fitness, Converge, Ad Focus, Omega, Salonpas, Bioderm, Extra Joss, MX3, Young Living, and Fitbar.

It has become the country's premier trail event, attracting dedicated athletes and enthusiasts year after year.
