Last July 16, I had the chance to visit Manila with my best buddies, and we found ourselves strolling around Bonifacio Global City (BGC) on a not-so-sunny afternoon. Our main goal was to hang out at Uptown Mall, but before we even got there, something already caught our eye—Frankie’s New York Buffalo Wings along 8th Avenue.

Ate Cherry, ever the foodie and optimist, instantly suggested we stop by for “merienda.” Honestly, it didn’t take much convincing. Who says no to chicken, right? So after a quick stroll through Uptown, we doubled back and headed straight to Frankie’s.

For most of us, it was our first time dining at this restaurant—and we were pleasantly surprised at how helpful and friendly the staff were in assisting us with our orders. Being a certified fried chicken fan (especially with sauces and seasonings), I couldn’t wait to try their flavors.

Here’s what we ordered—and my personal take on each one:

Caribbean Jerk

A saucy standout! It had a bold mix of sweet, spicy, and tangy notes that danced perfectly on the taste buds. The kick of heat doesn’t overpower but instead lingers pleasantly. Think tropical vibes with a punch.

Salted Egg

This one was a flavor bomb. It came generously coated with salted egg powder and garnished with red chili bits. What I loved most? It wasn’t overly salty—just enough to satisfy that salted egg craving. The dry rub gave it a gritty texture that made each bite addicting.

Garlic Parmesan

Classic and comforting. The wings were coated in a salty, garlicky, cheesy blend that’s perfect for those who love a no-frills yet flavorful bite. I found this one the saltiest among the three, but in the best way possible—it kept me going back for more.

All of the chicken had a satisfying crunch—even with the saucy ones! Some were on the crispier side, which I absolutely loved. And I have to confess… I couldn’t eat them without rice. I ended up having two cups, and yes, this was supposed to be just "merienda." 😂

We also tried two dips—I believe they were Aioli and Truffle Dip. Both were creamy and paired well with the wings, but the Caribbean Jerk + Aioli combo was a good match.

Ambiance & Service

The branch was spacious and well-lit, perfect for casual hangouts. The staff were attentive and quick to help out, which made our first-timer experience even more enjoyable.

Price Point

For a dozen wings (regular size), we paid ₱429—pretty reasonable given the portion size and flavor quality.

Frankie’s at 8th Avenue gave us a solid, flavor-packed "merienda" that turned into a full-blown meal. The chicken, the dips, the service—everything hit the spot. I’ll definitely be back for more... and maybe this time, I’ll try their other dishes too! If you’re in BGC and craving wings, Frankie’s is a must-visit.
