Last June 30, 2025, something extraordinary unfolded at the heart of the Davao Global Township—a celebration that brought smiles, nostalgia, and a whole lot of fries. As a longtime McDonald’s fan, I had the immense joy and honor of witnessing the grand opening of the 800th McDonald’s store in the Philippines, right here in Davao City.

From the moment I arrived, I could feel that this wasn’t just any opening—it was a milestone wrapped in golden arches.

Davao Global Township: The Perfect Stage

Nestled in one of the city's most dynamic and fast-growing developments, the new McDonald’s store stands as a proud emblem of progress, not just for the brand, but for Davao as well. The facade was a burst of festive color, adorned with oversized yellow “800” numbers and vibrant streamers that gave every passerby reason to stop and snap a selfie.

A Line-Up of Legends

And yes—it was just as magical as it sounds. Ronald McDonald was there, in all his red-and-yellow glory, charming kids and adults alike. I couldn’t believe my luck when Grimace, Hamburglar, and Birdie stepped in, bringing waves of nostalgia from my childhood Happy Meals.

Meeting the Man Behind the Mission

One of the most memorable moments of the day was meeting Mr. Kenneth S. Yang, President and CEO of McDonald’s Philippines. He graciously took the time to speak with guests, and hearing him reflect on this incredible journey—from store #1 all the way to #800—was genuinely inspiring. His presence underscored how much heart goes into every burger flipped and every smile shared across the counter.

A Celebration of Community and Flavor

This wasn't just a corporate ribbon-cutting. It felt like a full-on reunion—a community celebration that brought together families, friends, and fans of all ages. There was music, cheers, confetti (so much confetti), and of course, all the McDonald's classics that made our childhoods memorable.

As someone who’s loved McDonald’s for as long as I can remember, being part of this historic moment was nothing short of incredible. I left the event with a heart full of joy and a phone full of selfies, grateful to have witnessed this milestone.

Here’s to store #800—and to the many more golden arches yet to shine across the Philippines!

If you’re in Davao, make sure to drop by McDonald’s DGT. Whether you’re there for the fries, the nostalgia, or just a good time—it’s worth the visit.

Running is not my usual thing but if it's interesting like the McHappy Stripes Run, I would definitely register and prepare myself for an early morning jog with a lot of people. Honestly, I love fun runs but I hate waking up early in the morning. Haha!

The McHappy Stripes Run is a first in Davao and has been an annual activity in Manila. The good catch why I was really eager to join this activity is that all proceeds will be donated to "Ronald McDonald Read to Learn", a flagship of McDonald's charity of choice, the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Philippines. RMHC Philippines is also celebrating its 20th anniversary of touching the lives of 11 million children through its programs

Each race kit includes the Stripes shirt, red and white long socks, a meal stub, and the race bib.

There were a lot of activities for the whole family. There were booths that you can play games and win prizes. Unfortunately, I just won a wristband.

Along with my Davao Blogger friends, we had a warm up exercise to avoid sprains and muscle cramps. The event was hosted by Mr. Mikee Aportadera and Ms. Jackie Lou Blanco.

I ran the 5K category from People's Park to Chowking Bajada. Guess who saw me running, I mean walking down J.P. Laurel Ave. Hi Jad and Perper! :)

It was really fun! I wish I brought my best friends with me in this fun activity. Thanks McDonald's for inviting us and we are happy to help the kids and have fun in this activity at the same time. Cheers!

Thanks guys for dropping by and have a great time!
