PRESS RELEASE --- Limits were tested, boundaries were pushed as more than a thousand runners converged for one of the biggest trail running series of the season – the Salomon X-Trail Pilipinas 2016, Davao Leg – last August 27.

Over five years since its inception, the Salomon X-Trail Run continues to be the most anticipated trail running event throughout the Asia-Pacific Region. With competitions held in unique and exotic locations in countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hongkong and the Philippines, it is reputed for mounting the most challenging and scenic trail running races that feature a mixture of different terrain surfaces, including vertical ascents, long uphill climbs, with multi-surfaces of dirt, rocks, sand, and concrete paths.

In the Philippines, the Salomon X-Trail Run has been held for 5 consecutive years, in exclusive venues– ensuring that the race venues not only demonstrate the majestic beauty of nature but also, offer participants a stimulating and unique trail running experience. This year, Salomon decided to hold its Salomon Xtrail Davao Leg at the GAP Farm, Maa, Davao City, where tough and sweet trail routes were created exclusively for this year’s race.







The GAP Farm and the trails around Maa served this year’s trail racers a sweet and tough 7KM challenge as they dashed through the dark with multi-terrain, technical ascents and descents and mud-covered tunnel; the reason why “No or Incomplete mandatory gear, No race” policy were strictly imposed.

At 5:30PM, trail runners began to embark on their adrenaline-filled journey through a route that possesses a mixture of different terrains – from asphalt and sand, to rocks, to mud, and technical ascents and descents. It simulated ascents of Skyrunning races – an arena wherein Salomon dominates. Getting through this track in the dark was definitely not an easy feat especially with a three-hour cut-off time.



Committed to ensure that each race leaves as little to no harmful environmental consequences, the Salomon X-Trail Pilipinas 2016, Davao Leg, remained strictly, a GREEN RUN. As such, no disposables were provided at the hydration station, which required participants to bring their own provisions.

By 9:00 PM, raffle prizes were given to the participants such as Salomon Speedcross 3, Suunto Ambit3, Sea to Summit Products, Ahon products, Headware products and much more exciting products from Salomon. After giving the raffle, awarding ceremony commenced and this year’s roster of winners took home not only a range of exciting prizes but above all, a strong sense of fulfillment for pushing themselves to be the best that they can be – a philosophy echoed by Salomon. At the end of the day, no one went home empty handed as the Salomon X-Trail Pilipinas 2016 - Davao Leg proved to be a memorable and extremely satisfying feat for all the participants, regardless of winning. Plus, Salomon also gave way food and drinks from Sponsors after the race to reenergize the runners – Summit Water, Pascual Creamy Delight Yogurt, and Brew Kettle Beer.




At the core of each Salomon X-Trail Run event is to champion trail running and passion for the outdoors. A tougher Salomon X-trail Pilipinas Davao Leg will happen on August 27, 2016, as per race organizer Mr. Dax Ang during the press briefing at R.O.X. Abreeza.



The run will kick off at GAP Farm in Maa and the all-terrain footrace has a 7-kilometer distance. The run only has one race category but it is still good for newbies. The run will be scheduled at night so it is mandatory to bring headlamps. The runners will take a different course under a 300-meter tunnel that makes the run a much exciting experience.

The Salomon X-Trail Pilipinas is a green run, no disposables will be provided at the hydration stations and participants are required to bring their own hydration bottles with at least 500ml water load.


For all interested runner who want to avail of new trail weaponry in time for the race, registered participants will get 20% discount on all regular priced items at the Salomon Brand Store and in R.O.X. Store in Abreeza Ayala Mall.

SALOMON brings an interesting city trail run in Mindanao for the first time! This will be a 12 kilometer run on January 31, 2016 at 4:30AM that will start at Rizal Park beside the Davao City Hall to Davao Crocodile Park. 


"It's not going to be your ordinary fun run." as per race coordinator Mr. Dax Ang. The runners will be passing by famous landmarks in Davao City. "We will have a party at the finish line.", he said at the media briefing last January 16. Also present in the activity were race director Erwin "Pastour" Emata and Frankie Tongo of Team Titans Davao.


The Salomon City Trail Run has been in Manila for 2 years inside Intramuros. It was created for runners who wants a different trail and surface variations like bridges, staircases, and hills.

Ms. Mae Sanchez, Marketing Manager of Recreational Outdoor eXchange (R.O.X) said that this will be a green race. The first 100 registrants will receive a Salomon water bottle. There will be no disposable cups at the hydration stations, so all runners are advised to bring their own bottles.

Registration fee is at P700 inclusive of a white Salomon singlet, race bib, raffle stub, and free breakfast. First 150 finishers will receive a medal.

Running is not my usual thing but if it's interesting like the McHappy Stripes Run, I would definitely register and prepare myself for an early morning jog with a lot of people. Honestly, I love fun runs but I hate waking up early in the morning. Haha! 



The McHappy Stripes Run is a first in Davao and has been an annual activity in Manila. The good catch why I was really eager to join this activity is that all proceeds will be donated to "Ronald McDonald Read to Learn", a flagship of McDonald's charity of choice, the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Philippines. RMHC Philippines is also celebrating its 20th anniversary of touching the lives of 11 million children through its programs






Each race kit includes the Stripes shirt, red and white long socks, a meal stub, and the race bib.



There were a lot of activities for the whole family. There were booths that you can play games and win prizes. Unfortunately, I just won a wristband.





Along with my Davao Blogger friends, we had a warm up exercise to avoid sprains and muscle cramps. The event was hosted by Mr. Mikee Aportadera and Ms. Jackie Lou Blanco.






I ran the 5K category from People's Park to Chowking Bajada. Guess who saw me running, I mean walking down J.P. Laurel Ave. Hi Jad and Perper! :)




It was really fun! I wish I brought my best friends with me in this fun activity. Thanks McDonald's for inviting us and we are happy to help the kids and have fun in this activity at the same time. Cheers!

Getting fit is not my thing. Really. Trust me. You can definitely tell when you see me. But, fun runs are cool. It’s like jogging but with a twist. Everyone is wearing the same top. You run the same route at the same time. You can run with your friends or family. You get to win cool prizes. And well, there’s usually a free egg and a banana. I can share more cool stuff about fun runs, but it’s better experienced than read about.
