From the PR Manager of SM Lanang Premier Ms. Acey Puno

I am a self-confessed lover of bread. I don't know why but I like the texture and the sweet taste that I can't stop eating it. When I need something to nibble, I look for bread. Please don't judge me. Hahaha! Also, I love watching cooking and baking shows like Bake with Anna Olson and Cake Boss.

When I learned that the Davao Bloggers Society was invited for a baking workshop, I think I was the first person to sign up. I feel fidgety writing this blog because I am really excited to share my first baking experience with you guys. It's definitely one for the books!

First of all, the Philippine Baking Institute invited us and conducted the baking workshop inside their facility at Ecoland Drive, Davao City. last May 28, 2016. They are a premier baking institute in Davao City which offers baking education by certified and professional instructors. Our instructors/chefs for the day were Chef Steve Lim and Chef Francis Mangubat. Some participants, including me, attended another event in the morning. We joined the baking session at around 2PM. Some of our friends from DBS already baked pandesal and Spanish bread in the morning.

The first lesson was how to bake Brownies. I'd like to share the recipe so you can also try this out.

Ingredients:
250g Butter
6 pcs Large Eggs
450g Brown Sugar
5g Salt
5ml Vanilla
390g All Purpose Flour
80g Cocoa Powder
80g Cashew
2g Baking Soda
70g Dark Chocolate/Unsweetened (optional)

Procedure:
1. Melt butter and cocoa powder in a double boiler. Let it cool after.
2. Add in eggs one at a time and mix.
3. Add dry ingredients and fold.
4. Add the sugar mixture.
5. Bake at 160 degrees Celsius until baked.

The next pastry we baked was Pineapple Tarts. I don't have the recipe so I'll just share some photos.

The last pastry we baked was Butterscotch.

Ingredients:
360g Butter
800g Brown Sugar
100g Glucose
30ml Vanilla
6pcs Eggs
720g All Purpose Flour
30g Baking Powder
15g salt

Procedure:
1. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
2. Cream butter and brown sugar.
3. Add eggs one at a time.
4. Add vanilla extract.
5. Add the dry ingredients.
6. Fold in nuts and dried mango.
7. Bake at 160 degrees Celsius until golden brown.

I forgot to take photos of the Butterscotch because we were all excited eating all of it! Hahaha! But wait, we can't end the baking session without a major #flatlay! #FlatlayGoals :p

I am grateful to join the baking session at the Philippine Baking Institute. Actually, I've been thinking of taking baking lessons before when I had a lot of free time. When I learned about their wide range of professional baking education, I think this is something to look forward to. I might have a new hobby soon! :)

I still believe I have a chance to have a fairer and whiter skin. So I tried a lot of whitening products and soaps in the market today to give me that little boost of confidence. I've been using different whitening soaps but it damages my skin instead of having a clear and white skin. Maybe because of the different ingredients and chemicals that are not suitable for my skin type.

I'm glad that My Skin Origins launched their newest soap, the My Skin Origins Organics Kojic Plus Beauty Bar.

Since My Skin Origins is an advocate of beauty, health, and wellness via natural means, their newest beauty bar also contains organic ingredients. It has virgin coconut oil, kojic acid, glutathione, and Vitamin C. It will exfoliate your dead skin the natural way making your skin glowing and healthy.

To apply, lather it on your skin and let it stay for 2 mins and then rinse it off with water. It is less stingy because of its organic ingredients. So I did not have any skin lesions or allergic reactions when using the Kojic Plus soap.

The Organics Kojic Plus Beauty Bar is now available at all Gaisano Grand Supermarket at Ilustre, Digos, Kidapawan, Panabo, and Tagum City for a very affordable price of P68.

They also have a lot of other beauty bars for different skin types. You can visit My Skin Origins Beauty Clinic to know what soaps are good for your skin type. They are located at Door 2, #93 Jacinto Street, Davao City.

Thanks to My Skin Origins owners, Ms. Jennifer Rubia-Echano and Mr. Alan Echano for inviting us at the Organics Kojic Plus Beauty Bar launch at Happy Fit.

Grind with Supra supported the annual Go Skateboarding celebration in Davao last June 21 which gathered more than 200 pro-skaters in the city. Organized by Joey Betita of Endless Skate, the event was hosted to create an avenue of all Davao skaters --- young, not-so-young, students, yuppies, male, and female --- to reunite for the love of this action sport. He said he feels it his obligation as one of the pioneering skaters in Davao to create this avenue for the younger ones to gather and show off their skills and bravado for this challenging action sport.

The event commenced in Freedom park as the skaters cruised thru the busy streets of Acacia and Uyanguren wheeling side-to-side with the jeepneys and private vehicles. They ended at Magsaysay park where the skaters competed for the Best Ledge, Best Ramp, and Best High Jump categories. Aside from the bragging rights, the winners took home Supra shoes and signature Grind caps and shirts as prizes.

"As a spectator and being a mother, I cringe every time the competitors would crash in various forms but to my awe, they just brush off the dust and the pain and do the stunt again…. And again… and again… until they do it perfectly. From an outsider, they might be seen as a nuisance in the streets but the Go Skateboarding day collaboration gave me a glimpse into their world of adrenaline, speed, bruises, and pain. It’s all about them, coming from all walks of life, rolling-out to enjoy the exhilarating experience of being on the board and the camaraderie of fun-loving, care-free friends.", shared by Ms. Mae Sanchez, Cluster Operations Head of Primer Group of Companies in Davao.

Go Skateboarding Day is an annual event which is celebrated all over the world in key cities celebrated every 21 st of June. Grind shop is named after the skate trick “grinding” the board against the ledge.
