On January 8, 2025, I attended an exciting event at the Balmori Tent in Rockwell Makati, where Cebu Pacific, the Philippines’ leading airline, launched a new initiative to promote tourism and celebrate Filipino culture. They introduced QR Flight Codes, which are inspired by traditional weaving patterns from local communities.The QR Flight Codes encourage everyone to explore the country’s heritage while enjoying their travels. Candice Iyog, CEB’s Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, shared, "Cebu Pacific takes pride in honoring the rich tapestry of our nation’s cultural heritage. Using our business as a platform for inclusive and sustainable growth, we celebrate the artistry of our local weaving communities, ensuring their timeless traditions are preserved and their stories are appreciated by every Filipino,”
Unique Weaving Styles
The QR Flight Codes feature five traditional weaving styles from different regions. Travelers can scan these QR codes on billboards and in magazines to learn more about these weaves and discover attractions in their areas.

Discovery Samal in partnership with the Davao Fashion and Design Council Foundation, Inc is hosting a fashion fundraiser event where style, culture, and sustainability harmoniously blend with glamour at the Stellar Fashion Gala on September 28 at the Samal Grand Ballroom. The fundraiser is for the benefit of b.LOOM Project’s weaving communities and Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation, Inc. (MTEFI), a foundation that reaches out to grassroots communities.
The fundraiser gala, which will be held at the resort’s newest and largest venue in Davao, will highlight a 100-piece luxe resort apparel collection from Davao’s top designers from the Davao Fashion and Design Council Foundation, Inc. (DFDCFI) such as Aztec Barba, Dodjie Batu, Emi Englis, Popoy Barba, Edgar Buyan, Ebay Ayag, Windel Mira, and Benjie Panizales. Each designer will use innovative tropical fabric blends of piña, cotton, abaca, and bamboo developed by the DOST Philippine Textile Research Institute.
The event will benefit Davao Region’s artisanal weaving communities, as pilot beneficiaries of the fundraiser event's Extra Mile Creative Communities Sustainable Enterprise Program in partnership with the Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation, Inc.. (MTEFI). MTEFI is a multi-sectoral, socially responsive, and resilient organization promoting Mindanao eco-friendly products and services to the global community and envisioned to be a leading and pioneering exponent of services in the fields of trade development and promotion in Mindanao.

As a proud member of the Davao Bloggers Society, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the "Lounge & Learn: Bloggers Slumber Party" hosted by Red Planet Davao. The atmosphere was perfectly curated for a night of relaxation and learning, making it an unforgettable experience.
