Cebu Pacific Promotes Philippine Textile Arts

On January 8, 2025, I attended an exciting event at the Balmori Tent in Rockwell Makati, where Cebu Pacific, the Philippines’ leading airline, launched a new initiative to promote tourism and celebrate Filipino culture. They introduced QR Flight Codes, which are inspired by traditional weaving patterns from local communities.

The QR Flight Codes encourage everyone to explore the country’s heritage while enjoying their travels. Candice Iyog, CEB’s Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, shared, "Cebu Pacific takes pride in honoring the rich tapestry of our nation’s cultural heritage. Using our business as a platform for inclusive and sustainable growth, we celebrate the artistry of our local weaving communities, ensuring their timeless traditions are preserved and their stories are appreciated by every Filipino,”

Unique Weaving Styles

The QR Flight Codes feature five traditional weaving styles from different regions. Travelers can scan these QR codes on billboards and in magazines to learn more about these weaves and discover attractions in their areas.

Binakol (Ilocos Norte): Intricate, nature-inspired designs.
Ramit (Occidental Mindoro): Beautifully colored stripes.
Hablon (Iloilo): Bright colors and iconic plaid patterns.
Patadyong (Antique): Bold, colorful checkered designs.
Yakan (Zamboanga): Striking geometric patterns.

Working with Local Communities

Cebu Pacific partnered with local weaving communities to ensure the stories and significance of these fabrics are shared. Collaborating groups include:

Design and Build Quality

At just 7.9 mm thick, the Galaxy A16 feels sleek and premium in my hand. It slips easily into my pocket, making it an ideal companion for my busy lifestyle. The back of the phone features glossy and reflective plastic, available in Blue Black and Gold. The LTE version also comes in Black, Light Green (online exclusive), and Gray.

However, I did notice that the design is somewhat of a fingerprint and dust magnet. I wish Samsung had included a case in the box to protect this device. Nonetheless, the premium feel and elegant design make it stand out in the mid-range market.

Immersive Viewing Experience

One of the first things that struck me about the Galaxy A16 is its 6.7” FHD+ Super AMOLED display. The colors are vivid and the clarity is impressive. Whether I’m binge-watching shows on Netflix or YouTube, scrolling through Facebook, or getting lost in a game of Mobile Legends, the display never disappoints. The minimized bezels enhance the viewing experience, allowing me to fully immerse myself in whatever I’m doing.

While I did notice a few freeze frames during my initial gaming sessions, the overall experience was smooth and enjoyable. The screen's vibrancy makes it a perfect daily driver for anyone who loves multimedia content.

Camera Capabilities

The Galaxy A16 features three cameras: a 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro lens. The front camera has 13MP and can capture decent selfies in good lighting conditions.

As a frequent traveler and content creator, I find that this camera performs well for photography. The images are detailed and vibrant, making them ready for social media uploads. However, in low-light and nighttime conditions, the photos can become a bit blurry unless you use the night mode feature.

Performance and Battery Life

Powered by a 2.4GHz CPU, the Galaxy A16 handles multitasking and demanding applications with ease. Whether I’m gaming, streaming, or working, the performance remains consistent and reliable.

The 5,000mAh battery is another highlight. I recently charged it from 37% to 100% in about an hour and a half, which is impressive. After using it as my daily driver for three days, I found that it easily lasts me a day and a half. With Super Fast Charging, it’s back in action quickly, allowing me to focus on what’s important.

Durability and Security

Now, thanks to IP54 protection, I can go about my day with peace of mind. This added durability means the Galaxy A16 can handle the little surprises of life, whether it’s splashes or dust. This feature gives me confidence during my travels, knowing my phone can withstand whatever comes its way.

Additionally, the Samsung Knox Vault ensures that my sensitive information remains secure. It acts like a safe within a safe, physically isolating my PINS, passwords, and other private info so hackers can’t gain access. This extra layer of protection is reassuring in today’s digital landscape.
