MANGO proudly opened its third Megastore in the Philippines at the Ground Floor of Abreeza Mall last June 2, 2016. The Megastore has an 817.45 square meter area and brought together its menswear line, MANGO Man, and its children's line, MANGO Kids in one space.

To celebrate the launch of the megastore, MANGO invited Tricia Gosingtian, one of the biggest names in the country’s fashion blogging community and one of my inspirations in blogging, to share her styling tips and meet her Davao-based readers and followers. The event was held inside the MANGO Megastore last June 11 as a special edition of the Abreeza Fashion Forum.

For those who don't know Tricia yet, she is one of the pioneers in fashion, lifestyle, and travel blogging in the Philippines. Her blog, Tricia Will Go Places (www.triciagosingtian.com) started seven years ago. She's pretty famous in social media with more than 500 thousand followers in total. She also wrote a bestselling book titled 150 Style Essentials for Every Girl in 2013.

Tricia shared her personal styling tips not just for women but for men as well. She described her style as "sophisti-cute" and talked about balance, color, layering, and accessorizing.

She also answered some questions from the media and her followers after her presentation.

Tricia then had a quick meet and greet with her Davao-based followers. I made sure I did not go "fanboying" when I had chances to take photos with her. Yes... CHANCES. I took a lot of photos with her and I even had a chit chat with her and her fiance RG. It was a surreal moment. Haha!

People Footwear™, the leader in “high-performance leisure” footwear is excited to announce the addition of three new products, including two sandals, to its 2016 Spring/Summer (SS16) collection.

For SS16, three new silhouettes will be available: The Yoko, The Lennon Chiller, and The Rio.

The Yoko is a mash-up between old and new, combining the traditional square-toe Japanese sandal with a classic beach flip-flop. With rounded edges and a contoured footbed, this modern adaptation balances personality with wear-ability. “We wanted to create a simplistic sandal that had a unique perspective” states Damian Van Zyll De Jong, People co-founder, and CEO. “I looked at the square toe of traditional Japanese sandals and thought there was something really fresh there.”

The Lennon Chiller, a slide sandal with an adjustable full-length strap, is the ultimate companion for living the “high-performance leisure” lifestyle. Inspired by the comfort-driven and customizable straps of backpacks, The Lennon Chiller is built for casual adventures.

The Rio, a waterproof slip-on, is molded entirely out of People’s Skylite TM EVA foam providing the function of a water shoe with the style and wear-ability of a huarache.

People Footwear™ has expanded into the kids market with their “Little People” collection; a children footwear line featuring the same iconic Phillips, Stanley, and Senna silhouettes. New for kids, The Cypress received the mini-me treatment and will be available this SS16. With fixed elastic laces and a puffy upper, they can be slipped on with ease and feel like clouds on the feet. Offered in classic solid colors and a floral and Japanese shibori print, the little ones have never looked so stylish and comfortable.

PEOPLE FOOTWEAR

People is available at Res|Toe|Run and Bratpack. The brand is exclusively distributed in the Philippines by the Primer Group of Companies – Asia’s next retail giant.

The Philippines is known for its gorgeous beaches and countless malls. So we need a footwear that is light and comfortable, something we can slip into and last us all day and all night. When it comes to sandals, nothing comes close to Freewaters’ Tall Boy sandal.

Freewaters, a progressive footwear brand founded on the surf waters of Malibu by like-minded individuals who wanted to use business as a social platform to do good, has created one of the most comfortable slippers that people have been raving about—the Tall Boy.

Imagine the comfort and protection you get from a running shoe. Now translate that into the lightweight structure of a sandal.

These are the 5 things you will get with the Tall Boy sandals
  1. It has a high rise midsole that gives you extra support that will keep your feet more comfortable for a longer period of time.
  2. The thick and bouncy cushion and deep heel cup will give you a full arch support and cradles your foot without that "mushy" kind of feeling.
  3. The Flex Groove Outsole of this sandal provides a natural, soft flex that moves with you, all the while protecting your feet with a strong grip so you don’t have to worry about slipping up.
  4. The hydro leather strap and water friendly material used to make the Tall Boy will get you packing up this insanely comfortable pair of sandals to take with you on all your beach travel and adventures.
  5. A purchase of the Tall Boy sandal is more than just you getting a pair of awesome footwear, it is also a step towards providing a community with clean, drinking water. Freewaters is committed to its cause of getting to impoverished and hard to reach places and giving them access to clean water.
Every 1% of the sale of every footwear goes to fund Freewaters’ clean water projects in Kenya, Haiti, California, and now the Philippines.

There is nothing in the market like the Tall Boy sandal. Extremely comfortable, shockingly lightweight, and made to last, Freewaters delivers the goods with the Tall Boy sandal.

You can purchase Tall Boy at any of the Freewaters kiosks in Trinoma, as well as ResToeRun, Grind, and ROX BHS.

Pomade is something new to men nowadays. My grandfather said it's like the hair gel of the old times. When I went to a barber shop in high school, that was the first time pomade was used on my hair. I can still remember when manong barbero did not hesitate to style my hair with a pomade. It was so greasy it's like he poured cooking oil on my head. I got more disappointed when I can't take it off when I took a shower that day.

Now I found a new brand of pomade here in Davao City. Man Pomade Davao offers fine hair products for any and all styles of hair. They have 4 distinctly different pomades with the highest quality and with the most sensible prices.

They have 2 types of pomades that can cater to any preference of every man. The two types are the Oil Based Pomades and the Water Based Pomades.

The Oil Based Pomades

These pomades won't dry completely and you can restyle your hair any time. If you want to achieve a slick look, these pomades are best for you.

SUAVE - Hold is light and shine is great. Most manageable for restyling your hair throughout the day. It smells like bubblegum and ideal for pompadour hairstyles.
SUAVE    HOLD - 1 / GREASE - 3
HARD HEAD - Good hold with adequate shine. It's a harder version of Suave and can hold the hair up. It smells like bubblegum too!
HARD HEAD   HOLD - 2 / GREASE - 2

The Water Based Pomades

You can easily wash it out with water. It's weather resistant unless its raining. You can have the complete control over the way you style your hair. It smells like pineapple!

STUN - It holds the hair tight with a light shine. This is good if you prefer a matte or natural look. It's very easy to apply and easy to rinse.
STUN   Hold - 3 / Grease - 1

CLASSIC - It has great shine with moderate hold. Good for slick, and classic look.

I had the chance to see how you could use these pomades to style your hair. I went to Macho Mucho last February 8 to check the newest hairstyles and how to style it with Man Pomade.

Pomade Used: Man Pomade Classic Urban Men
Hair Style: Classic Cut

Pomade Used: Man Pomade Stun
Hair Style: Crop Fade

Pomade Used: Man Pomade Suave
Hair Style: Pompadour

Pomade Used: Man Pomade Hard Head
Hair Style: Top Knot (Man Bun)

The new generation of men likes to experiment in hairstyling. So it's not bad to do a little throwback. The new pomades nowadays are much better and easy to wear. I recommend you to try Man Pomade and upgrade your hairstyle every day.

Abreeza Ayala Mall strengthens its commitment to be a bastion for fashion in Davao City by holding a Fashion Forum called Scandi-lous. It's an exclusive mini fashion show attended by members of the city's fashion publishing, and blogging communities. I'm glad to be invited to get a peek at the trends that are set to take over in 2016.

Lifestyle bloggers Jeffrey Mondia and Clea Banal
Last January 24, models showed off Scandinavian inspired looks from merchants namely Debenhams, Dorothy Perkins, GAP, Mango, Marks & Spencer, and Promod.

Pam Quiñones, editor-in-chief of L'Officiel Manila was invited to talk about her style forecast in 2016 with Philippa Andren, a fashion consultant involved with L'Officiel Manila's styling team and a Scandinavian herself hailing from Denmark.

An exhibit by local fashion design collective Davao Elite Fashion Group graced the night inspired by the Pantone Color Institute's Color of the Year for 2016, Rose Quartz and Serenity. They featured pink and blue-toned creations by Andi Amora, Aztec Barba, Bamba Limon, Tzardy Tombo, Windell Mira, and Xioti Chiu.

Thanks for dropping by and have a great day ahead!

I met one of the top fashion bloggers and budding actress Laureen Uy at the SM Lanang Premier's runway show called #StyleGuide. She showcased her style forecast for 2016 with pieces from Penshoppe, Forever 21, and Guess.

It is the second time that SM Lanang Premier featured Laureen Uy. The first was in 2013, which I was really interested in attending. But I have to work at that time. She's with top male fashion blogger David Guison, for the mall's Lookbook Live runway show, where Laureen shared her flair for bold, spirited fashion combinations.

For men, long or oversized shirts are in this 2016.You can pair it with a colorful pair of pants or jogger pants.

Denim on denim is still in this year.

For women, go raid your mom's closet because a mix of vintage and the new will be in this year.

Stripes and laces will be a hit this summer too.

Here's a tip from Laureen, "If you are not comfortable wearing it, then don't wear it." Simple but true.

Thanks, Laureen Uy (www.breakmystyle.com) for the fashion tips and to SM Lanang for inviting me!

Thanks for dropping by and have a great day!
